Prostate HealthThe prostate gland is a small glandular organ found in men, whose function is to produce seminal fluid, an essential part of the male reproductive system. The prostate gland surrounds the neck of the bladder and urethra in men. Unfortunately, up to 50% of men will have some health problems directly related to the prostate gland at some time in their lives usually resulting from a condition called Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), a benign condition where the prostate gland becomes enlarged. If the prostate
gland becomes enlarged for any reason it can result in an obstruction
in the flow of urine from the bladder to the urethra. The most common
complaint for men is a more frequent urge to urinate, and incomplete emptying
of the bladder which can result in urinary tract infections. All men should
consult their physician when experiencing prostate symptoms to rule out
any possibility of serious disease or infection. |
